PADI Dive
Master Michael J. Milner, aka MJMSDiver Suba Diver
My father Lorenzo J. Milner, aka Lenny, in
the early 50s, was a hard-hat deep sea diver who trained divers and dived for Naval Diving and
Salvage Training Center (NDSTC). He inspired me to start scuba
diving. Consequently, my history with scuba diving began in 1998 with
Underwater Adventure Seekers (UAS), a dive club started in Washinton, D.C., in
1959 with a few Black men and one woman who wanted to train others in safe
scuba diving practices. One of the initial members, Dr. Albert Jones, is still
active in everyday administrative and scuba safety issues. Another original
member of UAS, Lenny, can advise UAS members regarding safe scuba diving. My
UAS dive instructors were Dr. Jones, Sly Smith, and Alex Colvin, who are
legendary in teaching scuba diving skills. As of today, I have over 400 boats
and shoreline dives while traveling to exotic locations around the globe.
